Choosing the right supplier is the single biggest factor in the success of a straw bag program. Price matters, but reliability, communication and quality consistency matter more over a full season.
1. Ask for real production capability
Request their monthly capacity, the number of artisans involved and examples of orders at your target volume. A supplier who can only describe small runs may struggle with a container order.
2. Test the sampling process
A good supplier turns samples around in 7–10 days and refines details without drama. The sampling stage is the best predictor of how the bulk order will go.
3. Insist on clear quality checks
Ask exactly when and how quality is inspected, and whether you will receive inspection photos. Vague answers are a red flag.
4. Confirm export experience
Documentation, packaging and Incoterms should be second nature. A supplier who has shipped to your market before will save you time and cost.
